Privacy policy

This page describes what this website actually collects, who processes it, and what you can do about it. Last reviewed against the running site on 8 August 2026.

What we collect

If you join the mailing list. The signup form on our join page is operated by Laylo, a third-party fan-messaging service. Depending on which option you choose, it collects your email address or your mobile phone number. That information goes to Laylo, not to us — we access it through their dashboard. Laylo is the system of record for your subscription, your consent, and your unsubscribe.

If you email us. Mail to our published addresses is forwarded to a personal inbox. We keep what you send us for as long as we need it to deal with your message.

Automatically, when you visit. Our hosting provider records standard server logs, which include your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. Images are served from Cloudflare R2, which likewise sees the IP address of whoever requests them. We also keep our own minimal, first-party record of page visits — which page, roughly when, and whether you're on a phone or a computer — so we can see which pages people actually use. We do not set a cookie for this and we do not track you between sites. We do not know who you are: visits are counted using a one-way scrambled code made fresh from your IP address and browser every day, which can't be reversed and can't follow you from one day to the next.

Do Not Track

Some browsers can send a Do Not Track signal, and California law requires every commercial site to say what it does with that signal. We run no advertising and we do not follow you from this site to any other one. We do keep a minimal, anonymous count of page visits (described above) — if your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we skip logging your visit entirely.

We cannot make that promise on behalf of the outside companies whose code loads on these pages. In principle they are able to collect information about your browsing over time and across different sites. Every one of them is listed below, and each is governed by its own privacy policy rather than this one.

Text messages

If you give us your mobile number, you are agreeing to receive recurring automated marketing texts from Barton at that number. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Who else is involved

• Laylo — runs the signup form and stores subscriber details, consent records and message history.
• Google reCAPTCHA — loaded inside the Laylo signup form to block automated signups. It collects device and behavioural data and is governed by Google's own privacy policy and terms.
• Google Fonts — the typefaces on this site are loaded from Google's servers, on every page. That means Google receives your IP address and basic browser information whenever any page here loads, whether or not you interact with anything. It is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
• YouTube — no videos are embedded on the site at the moment. If we add any, the player sets its own cookies and reports playback to Google; we will update this page before that happens rather than after.
• Replit / Google Cloud — hosts the site and produces the server logs described above.
• Cloudflare R2 — serves the photographs.
• Supabase — stores the site's own content (band info, shows, photos) and the logins of the handful of people who edit it. It holds no visitor or subscriber data.

We do not sell or share your information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are used in California law. We have not done so in the past twelve months. That includes information about anyone we know to be under 16.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will not treat you any differently for asking.

To be straight about where that comes from: Barton is small enough to sit under the revenue and volume thresholds that make a business subject to the California Consumer Privacy Act, so for now these are rights we choose to give you rather than ones the CCPA compels. We handle the request the same way either way. If we ever cross those thresholds we will say so on this page.

The quickest route for anything to do with the mailing list is the unsubscribe link in any email, or replying STOP to any text. For everything else, email us using the details on our contact page and say what you want done. We may need to ask a question to confirm it's really your address or number.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child under 13 has given us their details, email us and we will delete them. If you are between 13 and 16, please don't give us your phone number without a parent or guardian agreeing.

Changes

If what we collect changes, we will update this page before the change takes effect, and change the date below.
